Organisations that can help you

Since LoveFootball was founded in 2019 we’ve had more than 1000 blokes turn up and play football. We want to help those blokes (and others in the area) to know what help is out there and how to access it which is why we’re building a database of resources that they can access when they need it most.

With this information we’ll also be able to broaden our volunteer teams knowledge and they will be able to use the information to signpost men to services when supporting our players.

Andy’s Man Club

ANDYS MAN CLUB are a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online. We want to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and help men through the power of conversation.

There are local groups in Bury, Bolton, Rochdale, Oldham, Leigh, Manchester, Blackburn and Burnley.

Directions For Men

DIRECTIONS FOR MEN provides groups for men to come and talk about whatever it is that is affecting their mental health. We support each other through difficult times and we help each other by talking about what worked for us when we were going through difficult times.

NHS Talking Therapies

NHS TALKING THERAPIES can help if you are struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) , phobias, OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) amongst other things. The therapy you receive will be appropriate to you can help you make short and long term changes to your life.

It’s worthwhile to note that there is likely to be a waiting time to access the service and if you have a child under the age of 2 you are prioritised.

Your GP Practice

However you’re feeling, it’s important to remember that you’re not alone. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from your GP – it is part of their job to support us with our mental health.

Your GP can help you out with things like:

  • letting you know what support is available to you through the NHS or private services
  • suggesting different types of treatment like counselling and therapy, or medication
  • offering regular check-ups to see how you’re doing
  • finding local support groups for your mental health
  • explaining what the next steps are in getting you support

LoveFootball Peer Support

We are passionate about supporting our players mental and physical well-being which is why we launched LF Peer Support Service.

What is LF Peer Support?

We feel what we do on the pitch has a big impact in helping our players feel healthier, more confident and reduce anxiety. We also feel that there is more we can do to support our players.

LF Peer Support is an opportunity to talk to one of the team with lived experience, who has undergone our peer support training, and is there to help with any issues that may be having an impact.

We don’t have a magic wand, but we do have the ability to listen, the tools to help you identify where you may need some help and contacts with great organisations that can offer more in depth or specialised support if needed.

If you would like to speak to one of our LF Peer Support Team, complete the contact form below and we will be in touch to arrange a phone call.

All information is confidential and won’t be shared outside of the LF Peer Support Team
